Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals at Grantham Car Hire are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, charges, and your obligations for that rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the latter will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire Grantham, you must be at least 21 years old, with age restrictions that may vary depending on the vehicle type. A valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Please also provide valid payment information and a security deposit, as well as any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Grantham office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions handled securely through trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. Upon return, the vehicle should be in the same condition as it was at pickup, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as it was collected. If the fuel level is lower, refueling charges will apply. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You are responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental period, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous operations. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, and passengers or weight limits must not be exceeded. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Grantham will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim is limited to the total rental fee paid in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Legal Framework
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
